Eating to Live

Eating to Live

Recently I have been on a healthy eating journey. The journey started with me trying to lose weight and look better because I wanted the “Teyana Taylor body”. However as I did more research, I started learning about how your diet affects your health and I was so shocked. Dr. Sebi and other wholistic doctors have been able to show the world how a lot of diseases can be prevented. I wondered why most doctors did not share this information with their patients. I was quite apprehensive of going vegan because it seemed so challenging  and expensive. I decided to start incorporating more fruits and vegetables into my diet last year. It has been a gradual process and now I rarely eat animal produce.

Watching the documentary “What the health” On Netflix  was an eye opener. People are  more likely to gain weight from eating meat and dairy than they are from carbs and sugary foods. Cardiologists are able to show that heart diseases are linked to the consumption of animal based products. Meat, dairy and eggs are also closely linked to the development of cancer, high blood pressure, diabetes and  autoimmune diseases. 678,000 deaths in the US alone are due to poor nutrition and obesity related diseases, in the U.K. it is over 70,000.

The government and health organisations know this, yet Doctors encourage patients to eat more animal based foods. A full English breakfast (eggs, bacon, sausages, bread with butter and tea possible with milk) is considered healthy, whereby processed meats rank alongside tobacco smoking as a group 1 carcinogen according to the WHO. Most cancer, diabeties and heart disease foundations in the Western Hemisphere are funded by corporations that produce animal based products and even junk food. These cooperations are all about asking money so the animals are injected with all sorts of hormones in order to get maximum yield. Cow milk is high in Estrogen and this alters the Estrogen and Testosterone imbalance in humans, leading to mood swings and an increased risk of breast cancer. It also increases the body’s insulin levels and according to Harvard Health studies, it could lead to testicular cancer in men ages 20-39.

Medicine today is mostly about treating the diseases rather than preventing them. The pharmaceutical companies push for doctors to prescribe pills rather than a healthy diet just for profit. As a matter of fact, most doctors are as ignorant as their patients when it comes to nutrition. These companies seem to be benefiting off people’s pain and suffering.

It is becoming more expensive to treat diseases so I will suggest we focus on prevention. I am not asking everyone to become vegan or vegetarian I am simply saying that you eat more Plant based foods and do more research on nutrition. You need to figure out what is best for you. A healthy lifestyle is a journey and you need to enjoy yourself along the way.
