The Tony Elumelu foundation was founded by the Nigerian Entrepreneur, Tony Elumelu. He started the foundation to empower a generation of successful entrepreneurs who will drive Africa’s social and economic development. The foundation believes that African led private sector investment in key sectors of the African economy, will drive socioeconomic growth in Africa.
The program is meant to create opportunities for the bright young minds on the continent. Entrepreneurs are empowered through mentoring, seed capital and networking. The foundation also wants to create an integrated entrepreneurial ecosystem that will support and promote African entrepreneurship over a 10 year period.
The goal of the foundation is to invest in the dream of 10,000 entrepreneurs across Africa, thereby creating over a million jobs and generating over $10 billion in revenue. In 2015, $100 million was given to the foundation to achieve the set goals and aims.
